Privacy policy

GiriYatra is an independent guide to the footpaths to Tirumala. This policy explains information handled by our app and website. Contact the GiriYatra team at connect@giriyatra.com with privacy questions or requests.

Using the guide

You can explore the guide without creating an account or providing a phone number. The app stores reward balances, previously earned reward identifiers, advertising configuration and consent preferences on your device. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes the app's local data; it does not delete records already held by advertising providers.

Optional location access

If you start location-based journey tracking and grant permission, the app uses device location to estimate your position along the route. Route-position calculations run on your device. Our journey code does not upload precise GPS coordinates to a GiriYatra server or pass them to advertisers. You can deny or revoke location permission in device settings and continue browsing the guide.

Advertising and network requests

The app displays direct sponsorships and Google AdMob ads. It downloads campaign configuration and sponsor images from our hosting provider. These requests necessarily expose your IP address and request information to the provider and may be recorded in service logs. Tapping a sponsor opens its destination website, whose own privacy policy applies.

Google's advertising SDK may collect IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, ad interactions, diagnostics and performance information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. An IP address can be used to estimate approximate location. Data handled by Google depends on device settings, consent and the ad services used. Read Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps and sites that use its services.

Where required, the app presents advertising privacy choices using Google's consent platform. When available, use Ad privacy settings on Home to review those choices. Device settings also provide advertising and permission controls. The guide remains accessible when advertising is unavailable.

Rewards and measurement

Earned points and claim results are stored locally. If a rewarded ad is offered, the app uses the advertising SDK's completion event to determine whether the disclosed action was completed. Clicking an ordinary advertisement does not earn points.

Versions connected to our advertising API may send ad impression or click events containing a placement ID, campaign ID, platform and app environment. These events do not include a name, phone number or precise GPS location. The static S3 configuration version does not send these events to a GiriYatra API. Mixpanel is not currently integrated.

Contact and your choices

If you email us, we receive the contact information and message you provide and use it to handle your enquiry. You can request access, correction or deletion of information you have provided by emailing connect@giriyatra.com. Information held by Google or a sponsor is governed by that provider's policy and controls. We cannot retrieve device-only reward data from your phone.

Retention and changes

Local data remains until cleared or removed. Contact correspondence is retained as needed to handle the enquiry and related obligations. Hosting and advertising providers apply their own retention practices. We will update this page when our app's data practices change.
